.
Tl,Dr: the verb in the passage indicates the woman was more likely seduced (possibly with some degree of pressure, the example given is Potiphar's wife trying to seduce Joseph). It also mentions that the woman did not "cry out" or seemingly protest.
.
[The reason this is significant is that in at least one other passage in the bible (can't remember which one) they indicate that when it is written a woman crying out, it is considered a sign of rape]
*
The article does not condone this, if I'm understanding correctly, merely says that the choice of wording indicates the woman was less likely violently assaulted, but more likely had a man persistently pursuing her, and she eventually gave in. The marriage was both for his benefit and also to help keep her from being cast aside in society.

May or may not change anyone's thoughts on this, but seems relevant to mention
I would love to provide a link to something related to the Quran as well btw, but since "sexual subservience" is made as a very broad statement (as opposed to a specific incident) and I am far less familiar with the Quran, it's a bit more difficult for me to do so.

If someone more familiar with it has info please share

Lmao it took someone exactly 27 seconds to be offended by this. They managed to downvote the second comment as soon as it was posted. Impressive speed. Doesn't bode well for the bedroom, mind you, but still
Oh I knew it was going to piss people off, I was just impressed at how quickly it did.
.
Like I accidentally refreshed the page trying to scroll immediately after posting the second comment, and it was already downvoted. So at least the first person didn't read it, they just went "religion bad"
.
Appreciate it though, Thanos ;)
so the author wasn't trying to defend the Quran or the Holy Bible, they just wanted to make sure the Satanic Bible was included, nice.
.
how you do urls? whenever i try, i have to add spaces
Pretty much, which is part of why I went with that article. Not to bash the satanic bible - I know less about it than the Quran - but just to see whether this claim was accurate.

Yes I know. You're complaining that this website is overrun by bots. So I'm saying a solution to this would be if actual users submitted content. You commented, so I assume you're an actual user, so.... Post something?
.
The only way botposts will go down is if more people contribute
They were herebefore Dave was. I'm pretty sure they just auto-crawl other websites and randomly post content from them (like neingag). The purpose is to keep the website generating memes when user content is low
