Someone I know was close to a guy in prison. Somehow (and I have no idea how) his prison ended up in a rivalry with another prison.(think: less like Pokemon rivalry and more like east side vs west side type rivalry). The other prison was in charge of prepping their food for a week or something. All the prisoners in his prison were terrified of eating it
Yes. Masterful. We can easily follow this logic to many more bold steps we can take. Like- if every prisoner can be put to work for free or pennies a day- why can’t we/aren’t we doing that with school children and the unemployed? Why doesn’t every school have an Etsy store selling cut hand crafted jewelry made by children- it’s art and funding? Why isn’t PE exercise coupled with skill building- have them walk a wheel that generates power, or sort and haul scrap metal? Maybe harvest cash crops?
And if we can give food and clothes to every prisoner, and every school child... why can’t we give those things to every honeslss person? And why can’t we give school to every person? Holy crap. We may have just solved poverty by asking rhetorical questions!
Of course- female prisoners often have to buy their own feminine products from the commissary- if there are any and they are allowed to have them. And prisoners in general receive poor mental and physical care with long waits and questionable efforts. And there’s the whole sexual and other abuses issues. So maybe it’s not so great? Maybe... prisons are very different from schools? But... all those army guys get food and uniforms too. Hey- maybe that’s a better analogy? Maybe everyone should be enlisted in the military at birth and serve until 22 then decide to re up or walk? Then we all get free food and clothes and education!
Hell yea
