There is a substantial difference between a stimulus package and socialism.

Way I see it, there's nothing socialist about getting your own money back. Then again, I did get my Trumpbux with my tax return.

Well- the way the definition of socialism sees it- a stimulus check isn’t socialism. People just use the term “socialism” to describe any type of social welfare or program designed for the common good. Socialism is a system by which the community owns and controls the means of production, exchange, and distribution. Nothing about a stimulus or a basic income fits the criteria of socialism. It is closer to what is called a “welfare state” or “welfare capitalism.”

The key distinction in practice and philosophy is that a welfare system generally sets a lower limit- a base line of a standard of living that all or some people are guaranteed. A socialist system sets a lower limit- but will also generally impose an upper limit on how well (most) people can do. Capitalism in essence doesn’t restrict the upper limits of wealth a person can acquire so long as they are able to earn it.

When we got our money we used every cent to pay bills and buy food. All but 100 that is. I forgot we used it to give our daughter a late birthday gift because her birthday was so small due to bills being super tight so we gave her 100 bucks and we let her buy what her she wanted.
