This gave me a bit of hope for the future. My son is a game addict and I struggle to balance what is appropriate free time doing what he wants to relax vs crossing the boundary to addictive behavior. As long as he manages his other "musts" e.g. schoolwork, training, chores I try to let him do his thing although I worry terribly about it. I usually ask him who he's online with and shout out a hello and ask when they are coming over for dinner/sleepover next. My son rolls his eyes and he and his friends chuckle over his loud, embarrassing mom but maybe I'm doing the right thing.
