I saw it. Mostly, I saw the edge of the nest, scrolled down very slowly, saw his lil nub of a nose, and zooped right past it.
Thank you very much for warning me :3 I'm glad you care about me so much
I had actually seen the picture before on the persona 5 subreddit (accidentally of course), so when I saw the edge of the nest I remembered that shit and made sure to proceed with caution.
Could be worse; I found a post once by searching randoms with a nest of baby birds that were like a foot fucking long. Ok, maybe they weren't that big, but the certainly looked it, and caused me to have to take a fs break for a few hours lol.
It’s a nice sentiment- but... like many signs people make... it isn’t very well thought out. I mean- your dad was in the KKK- and you are not. So his teachings or attitudes on race didn’t really influence you to follow him right? So then... how does it “end” with you? I guess if you have no siblings and never have children- but otherwise- there’s no reason regardless of what YOU believe that future members of your family won’t join the Klan. So it might SKIP you, or “pause” with you... but end? There are people in 2020 trying to bring back organizations and governments from hundreds or thousands of years ago.
I guess my point is 2 fold: 1. I wish people would focus more on saying intelligent things than trying to just say anything in a clever manner. And 2. The fight is never over. No fight ever is. People die but ideas outlive them, or they are resurrected in the future when most people forgot or don’t know their history. As long as there is selfishness, hate, thoughtlessness, etc- we will have to fight against it. You win today- and the pendulum swings back the then way eventually.
The thing is- the thing you can tell people but they don’t really GET until they see it- the thing that covid and all the recent events- protests and attempts to bring the military to enforce civil law and so on- no matter how stable and enlightened and intelligent and safe you think you are- we are always just a few bad throws if the dice away from whatever your personal idea of hell on earth is. People who months ago were crying that guns should be banned- lined gun stores in record numbers as soon as the toilet paper ran out. Try buying an AR receiver or barrel etc online right now. Very few options at the moment.
Tomorrow is another day- the earth will keep spinning- or it won’t, and there won’t be much to worry about. But regardless- the fight is never over. The stakes get higher.

I get where you’re coming from guest but the thing is that when you’re protesting you don’t really have the space on your board to construct a multifaceted argument in a way so that many people from far away will be able to read it. The point of a board is to make a snappy remark that draws people in and shows in the most simple terms what you’re doing and believe in. One can assume that he means he will educate his children or family properly so they won’t hold racism ideas but yea of course he has no control over what someone 200 years from now will do. However, if we can change our culture today then that will stick with us, at least in the history books and if you look at the history of acceptance of minorities it has been a clear progression, despite the set-backs. With you final point I don’t really understand what you mean with the “few dice throws away from your personal hell” so be a dear and tell me how that is relevant.

I think you’re really smart, guest, so you probably already knew my points before hand but I guess I was sorta confused by your reasoning this time :/
Thank you for the kind words and respectful and civil tone of your questioning. I believe you seem very smart as well. I will do my best to answer in non essay form- but once these fingers start moving... no promises. lol.
To the first part- I agree. I certainly don’t mean to say their intentions aren’t at least seemingly noble, or that what they seem to be trying to say is a bad thing. And of course- a “guest_” style essay isn’t well suited for a protest sign. It’s a marketing thing. You need a message that says what you want, resonates, and catches attention. Hopefully sticks with people. To me- the problem comes in when the message may SEEM witty- but actually doesn’t work.
Metaphor is a classic example of this. I like metaphors. In general though... they should be avoided in most debates because often they are quite imperfect- and while one is trying to convey a CONCEPT, the details and semantics tend to become the topic. Clarity is the idea- and ambiguous statements aren’t clear.
To the “roll of the dice” away and it’s relevance: it is primarily relevant to the fact the fight is never over. Any peace is not a treaty- just a lull in the war. We like the idea that we can protest, attire letters, wear a shirt or cast a ballot and then in short order things will be fixed and we can call the job done. It just isn’t so. We finally got same sex marriage and I am so happy. But that fight isn’t over. There is still ground to gain and there have been numerous attempts we know of- let alone those we do not- to make it illegal again or marginalize it somehow.
Wether you’re a “liberal” or “conservative” or whatever ones ideologies are- they are never safe in any society. It doesn’t take much to undo all the work, and it is easier to destroy than create. So I appreciate the message I think this person is trying to send- but the message they actually sent.. could perhaps use some crafting. If they did their best- that’s the best they can do. And perhaps that was presumptuous of me- ill spirited even that I didn’t think of that fact until you replied. I suppose we can only do the best we are able to do at any given moment. Thank you.

Ah it makes more sense now and yeah I agree some of the “witty” signs can usually need more work to send a more clear message. I think a good goal to set is to write something similar to the boards saying “I (or we) can’t breathe” since it references George Floyd’s last words, immediately sending the message while also throwing an emotional gut-punch. But honestly as long as the idea is there it doesn’t matter if one protester amongst many can’t formulate their stance amazingly. Still, it is nice to see this person breaking away from their dads harmful ideals. :)
go Cards. My boy Reece, 22... never forget... and then never forget that leg in 2013. Worst basketball injury ever.... and I've seen Achilles' torn... multiple times.
