They literally did and I've never heard anyone say in my entire life that they didn't. What people usually say is that there's also more involved in the history, which is usually the point in the conversation people start screeching about how racist they are for bringing that up, and then demanding history be erased altogether
She's right though.
Also, confederates were Democrats, Dems founded the KKK and used gun control to keep blacks down, the NRA was founded to arm and train blacks and whites alike, and there never was a "Southern strategy".
It's funny how you guys sound exactly like the guys in Germany who over 80 years constantly defend the times of colonialism and the well known Nazi period with the exact same words.
I didn't realize we were defending the confederacy? I'm pretty sure the first sentence in her comment is saying that the civil war was fought over slavery. The admission that their was more involved in the origin of the conflict than the continuation of slavery =/= anyone is defending slavery.

The biggest aspect of the civil is, was, and always will be slavery. But there were still several nuances that further exacerbated the divides in the country. High population of immigrants in the north vs an exceedingly small population of the south lead a big split between urban and rural. The vast difference in economic development between the north and south also lead to further strife. Westward expansion also played a role but that tended to be more along the racial lines in how states were admitted to the union. Foreign influence also played a huge role. If it wasn't for the cheap cotton being sold to European buyers the longevity/viability of slavery would have been well past expiration
Bruh none of my comment was an attack on you personally. I didn't even realize until this moment that you posted this meme.
