When me and my 3 younger brothers were little every time my Mom or Dad came home from work we all run to them and say hi and we missed them and what we did that day.
I gotten my first real furry son around that time. (I had dogs and cats before but he was mine not “family pet”)
He would follow me to greet our Mom and/or Dad. It got to where before we even knew our parents where home my Dog would run to the door ready to greet them with out us kids.
At one point we all grew up and stop doing it but my dog kept doing it. He would do a little dance and try to hop into their arms.
That is the great thing about animals they never grow out of greeting you at the door and being so happy to see you even though your own kids and/or spouse grew out of it. Pets will always be happy to see you.
