You're right. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that while "I can't breathe" pertains to George Floyd's specific murder, the protests have grown in scale and importance to include the defunding of police and recognition for cases police brutality specifically against non-white and LGBT people.
True, but the reason for the protest is still important. I would also hesitate to mark every protester as violent simply because some are using the chaos to riot/loot. In my state, police showed up in full riot gear at a musical tribute to a black man who was killed without cause.
And in my home state a portion of a city was taken over by anarchists and criminals because the governor and mayor are limpwristed cowards who ought to be hanged until dead for dereliction of duty and providing aid and comfort to insurrectionists who actively victimized and killed American citizens while destroying public and private property that, per the actual social contract, they were meant to protect.
