Lol. Iccarus and creativedragonbaby beat me to it with their wise words. Kangaroos in general are VERY strong, they fight ALOT, and they don’t just punch- they kick and very hard. They can bite too. It’s just a bunch of weapons strapped together and wrapped in muscle. Oh- and did you realize that kangaroos have claws? On their “hands” and “feet,” and their lower claws can cut your guts wide open?

If you’re attacked by a kangaroo- well- best thing to do is not be attacked. Obviously. Kangaroos are animals. They can attack for any reason. But usually they attack people when they feel threatened or feel like you did them wrong. What’s wrong to a kangaroo? That’s complicated and you’re not a kangaroo- but you can watch for body language and behavior from males that shows they are “challenging” you as a rival. If they are- get small, be it’s bitch. You probably won’t have to fight.

If the kangaroo is already attacking or it’s not trying to challenge for pecking order- well- I’m not a kangaroo either, so I can’t tell you why. But- don’t square up. You’re too vulnerable and even if you have the conditioning and toughness to take a hit from a pro heavyweight- a kangaroo hits about as hard and it has claws that can open you up from stem to stern with one hit no matter how tough you are. Turn flank to it so you’ve got less area to hit. Arms in, elbows tight. And just back up, a measured pace is probably best, but whatever speed will keep you out of range or minimize the hits and chance to hit. Keep backing up until it hopefully goes away or you have an option for safety or help.

You can curl up on the ground- but that’s a personal choice between trusting yourself to get you away and trusting the kangaroo to get bored of whooping your ass. If you absolutely MUST fight a kangaroo- it IS possible. The odds are against you. Not as bad as fighting a Grizzly bare knuckle- but pretty bad. Long ago there were at least a few “exhibition” events- boxer vs Kangaroo. The roos were given gloves so they couldn’t use their claws and were off balance- and they had been trained since young for the task. And most of the time they still whooped the crap out of the other boxer. Their kick comes out of nowhere and they use their tail to hold up and hit with both legs.

If they land a kick, odds are it’s over right there. Keep your head back so you don’t get rocked, and find a weapon. A long sturdy branch, a shovel, something. You want to keep your distance- kangaroos have short reach with their arms, but their kick can cross basically their height in a snap- so don’t get caught off guard. Move. Keep moving. Do not let it close the gap. You’ll need a weapon with reach or that can be effectively thrown. If it is something you can block and parry with even better if you have the skills. Keep it turning and moving. You want to try and work your angles so it can’t get a square kick on you. You’ll still probably lose. You’ll basically only have any real chance of winning with a decently suited gun or a long blade. But you’ll still lose since injuring or killing a Kangaroo is likely going to land you in legal trouble either way unless you have tags and even then... circumstances matter.

Don’t fight the kangaroos. Don’t turn your back if they fight you. Keep facing them (with flank turned to them to protect your vitals and minimize the target you present) and try and get away. Despite their potential to harm humans- kangaroos rarely kill anyone- most deaths related to them are car crashes and such and even that is rare. It’ll likely KO you and be about it’s way. They aren’t carnivores- so you’re probably safe once you’re out. Regardless. Be safe, respect the wildlife, don’t feed the Kangaroos and don’t fight them.
