Taylor’s boyfriend’s charges were dropped. Due to the various perspectives of the same situation everyone was acting in self-defense.

I’m not going to say anything for or against what you said or what the post says except to mention that bond is intentionally bias. That’s the point. Bail is set based on how likely someone is to show up to court, how much of a “flight risk” they are, and how hard it would be to recover them. Putting asides the trust the system places in police officers over average citizens- if I cop jumps bail their coworkers are all... cops. The bail amount has to be an amount of money that is significant to the persons finances to ensure they come back to get it- when measured against risks mentioned above.

Taylor’s boyfriend faced more serious charges and had lost his girlfriend, so a reasonable person might say he would have less “to lose” by skipping bail. So I’m not saying the whole affair isn’t bullshit or that the system isn’t broken- but I’m saying that the system doing what it is supposed to do isn’t an example of it being broken.

As an example- if a racist officer gives you a ticket for a vehicle code violation wrongfully- say he makes the whole violation up. If the impound guys boot your car when you don’t pay- the impound guy isn’t an example of a broken system. That’s literally what his job is. The politics and particulars aren’t his business. He executes his job without undue bias against single mothers and deadbeats alike. The broken part is that an officer was able to do such a thing, and if they get off Scott free after you prove your innocence. But it’s important to note.

I wanna point out that this is misleading as the officer charged with reckless endangerment wasn't shooting at the neighbors. His partner was just shot and he, being outside, began shooting inside through a window that had blinds and curtains over it. The charge was brought upon him for shooting inside the apartment without having any vision of the inside.
