He did it because if he dresses as his character than he would of had a lot of kids wanting to meet him and it take away from his time with his daughter. So he went as something the kids won’t recognize him as.

Tbh, when I saw this last year I genuinely thought that was Weird Al. It was only after I read they caption that I saw that it wasn't.
