My party was in an underwater city and two of us rolled a history check but we both rolled so low that the DM said;
-You've heard of cities under water.
As good roleplayers or characters struck up a conversation along the lines of;
-I think this might be one of those cities under water I've heard so much about.
-You know, you could be right. It would explain a thing or two.
My favorite moment was when a friend of mine (who is really clumsy in real life) failed every dexterity roll in the game. Wanted to jump over a wall- crashed his face. Wanted to hit an enemy - hit himself and so on and so on.
One time, I asked for a roll to see a well. The well was like super obvious, but I rolled a 1. So the DM says "You have been struck temporarily blind".
