Usually 14 soup kitchens as many as 20 when winter got bad. My grandfather lived Chicago at the time, told of Mister Capone coming into his grocery store & buying out all the bread, vegetables, meat... everything with a roll of cash. "Three guys'll be here in an hour to pick it up. When you get more, I'll be back" Grandpa Kotch said a lot of people would've frozen or starved to death if wasn't for Mister Capone.
