Honestly if I got it as a Christmas present I would be happy lol it’s sad but true I love kitchen gadgets as well. My husband once got me an oven for my birthday and I cried I was so happy lol
I feel like kitchen stuff is different because people legitimately have baking/cooking hobbies. But people typically don't have laundry and cleaning hobbies.
Just don't give housework helping appliances as gifts.
If you're doing it just because and giving them an upgrade in the process, then MAYBE it's justifiable.
But just don't do it at all.
The diamond necklace doesn't negate the fact that they tried to give their wife a washing machine as an anniversary present.
Again, if it's just because, and potentially a better model, then it's possibly justifiable, but a special occasion isn't the time to give the wife the new washing machine to do the laundry, no matter how many diamond necklaces, rings, and boxes of chocolate you try to pair it with.
Don't buy something like that for your wife unless she specifically asks you to do so. Then, have at it. (My sister and I both enjoy cooking, and have requested kitchen gadgets from our spouces for Christmas on many occasions.)

We all just want to feel nice! like the rest of mankind!
