I had a wild baby Grackle that I raised and we took him to the vet after he showed signs of living to make sure he wasn’t riddled with disease. Some sadly are.
The vet took a piece of plastic band like the ones they use to tie around your arm when you get blood drawn and tied up my poor Baby Bird (that was his name Baby Bird) with it than weighed him.
Luckily Baby bird after test proved to be healthy. And lived a long time.
I wish I could, but am currently stuck in a tube face down.
