This is a Cut Leaf Weeping Birch or Betula Pendula. I would have taken a picture of the leaf to show why the tree has that name but it would have been a picture of my hand as it's winter and this tree is deciduous.
In my area I hear this tree called a Weeping Willow. Extremely different trees. The white papery bark on a Birch is very distinctive and a joy to feel. Yes, I touch trees. Don't kinkshame me.
These trees are a joy to climb as you must be careful not to damage them but it's technical due to the canopy spacing and the weaker branches. These are beautiful trees and are radiant in the spring. I'll take more pictures then.
They call them willows where I am too o.o I'm now annoyed by that
.
The branches on these things whip me in the face sometimes
.
Also I'll kinkshame you if I want to, don't tell me what to do
That's an American Elm. When those hefty guys get some leaves I'll post about them. They're in a big fight for survival and another problem has arrived. My area could be devoid of all Elms within ten years.
I touch trees too :D and you can drink the water that comes out when you cut the tree. And you can use the bark of birch as a fire starter. Plus the wood of the birch is one of the best woods used for fire or for ovens because it doesnt "explodes" like other woods. It's often used in pizza ovens
The Betula Pendula is called hanging birch here in Norway, and the bark has its own name: never, when translated, the word has two meanings, either the bark from birch, or hands.
