Get a philodendron. People talk like cacti are the best, but no. Cacti are sensitive to lack of light, too much water and cats.
Not a philodendron.
Too much water? Just let it dry out.
Too little water? Just give it some extra.
Not enough sun? Hardly an issue.
Too much sun? (Where do you live?)
Cat sitting upon and chewing the leaves? It will grow twice as many. And several new plants from the broken pieces.
I’ve been keeping a monstera, two aloe veras and an orchid for about half a year now. I can’t say they’re doing great but every time I see some weird spots, or them sagging down I try to look up what I’m doing wrong. The monstera was about to die big I moved it to a little less sunny spot, gave it some fertilizer, snapped of the air roots and dying leaves and fixed my watering habits. It’s looking a lot stronger and greener now. Same thing with the aloe veras. They started looking a bit brown near the middle so I searched it up and found out that you shouldn’t put water directly on the leaves as that will make them rot. Instead water around the edges of the pot, and don’t do it often. I also found out that the window I had them in wasn’t insulated enough during the cold winter so they were freezing. The orchid has had a tough life, either overwatered or dried but I’m trying. I snipped off some dead parts and it looks to be feeling ever so slightly better. We’ll see how it goes.
