Honestly, I even watch english language movies with subs, they help if I miss a word or somebody mumbles. Sure, it means I spend less time looking at the visuals, but I find the meat of a story is usually in the dialogue anyways.

I use to hate having subtitles on but my ex insisted, now I leave subtitles on for everything for this reason... I’ve also trained myself to stop reading when I don’t need to

When movies have subtitles I pay more attention trying to read the subtitles than watching the movie so I end up missing out on the movie

I sometimes like dubs bc I like to hear certain voices like Brock as Kaiba and Shido from P5 as Speedwagon lol

For me it's all about what sounds better, plus the reasoning y'all subbers like sub is so dumb. Y'all be like "it sounds more natural" you don't know what you're talking about because Japanese people will say the voice acting sounds awkward just like dub you just aren't culturally attuned to identify japanese awkwardness
