Publishing houses don't agree with you at the moment.
But you know what? I hope you get to see something as beautiful as a million bubbles reflecting the sun today.
Seconded. Plus, if you’re not worried about getting published, you don’t have to write publishable things. …. I and my terrible co-op fanfic will be over here.
Yeah, I've written fanfics too, but it's just... I'd like for stuff to get published to feel like a "real" writer, and be reassured I'm not just someone who scribbles stuff thinking it makes sense when it's, in fact, horrible, because everyone can throw an assembly of words on paper or a computer screen, but I think that being a writer, as opposed to just writing, takes some skills. And using the power of words unwisely on some scribble that will stay in my drawer is no fun.
Being a *professional* writer takes skills - not all of which are about writing (Also, it’s a super stressful career). Just being a writer just takes… writing regularly. My college professors used to say that before you get anywhere, you should expect to wallpaper a room and start wrapping your Christmas presents in rejection letters.
Sell your book in digital form. If a weird Donald Trump erotica can make it to New York Times Best Seller, I'm sure you'll do fine. Once it's popular enough, people will want physical copies.
