Awaken, comrades, the Motherland calls. And then go right back to sleep after you yawn for a little.
Russian Blue is somewhat of a misnomer, since their fur tends to be silver to gray, and their eyes tend to be green. But at least they are Russian. The breed is believed to have originated from Arkhangelsk (Archangel), a port city in Russia. As such, they sometimes referred to as Archangel cats, or Archangel Blue. But are they angelic? Kinda. Among the cat breeds, they are said to be relatively calm and tranquil.
They're also quite intelligent and can be taught to do tricks or to hunt. This also means they get bored easily, and need to be kept entertained.
It's noteworthy that Nyan Cat was based on a Russian Blue, and so was Tom from Tom & Jerry. There's also a Russian Blue cat assassin featured in the Cats & Dogs (2001) movie.
(Note: real Russian Blues have not, to date, been observed attempting assassinations or flying across the sky while leaving rainbows behind.)
Looks like mine! She has emotional intelligence and is smart enough to wait for the other cat to open a door instead of learning to do that herself, so she fits the description! I've taught her to draw with her paws on foggy windows, walk on her hind legs to eat coconut shreds from my hand (doesn't work with anything else) and eat spaghetti with me like Lady and the Tramp. She will learn what she's ok with learning.
That's great. It's always nice to hear from actual cat owners and get their perspective. I'm glad what you said lines up with what I've read. What breed is your other cat?
European Shorthair mosly, but the vet told us she wasn't sure.
Even for the first one in fact, she *looks* like a Russian blue but since she just appeared one day on our doorstep we can't be certain.
They're just random gifts from the universe :)
