Science is about progressing knowledge. This inevitably means that experts are sometimes wrong. New evidence comes to light, science progresses (many times reluctantly), yet they're still the experts. They don't apologize, because up until that time, their expertise was the best we had, and it continues to be the best we have.
And when an email leak reveals that the experts weren't "wrong" so much as "knowingly lying and obfuscating for the purposes of manipulating politics and sentiment as well as catering to public sector unions and covering for an oppressive regime currently carrying out genocide and colonialism"?
