It will always amaze me that there are feminist who will lose their mind that wives will take their husband's last name, but will turn a blind eye to a biological male competing against what should be biological female only sports. And they have the power to make it change over night but they deliberately choose not to.
In some countries they're recording crime stats committed by trans men/women as if they were committed by the biological gender. The potential long term ramifications of doing so cannot be overstated.
.
But people act like talking about actual harm being done to society at large is somehow evil, phobic, or radical.
.
All those labels do is devalue the terms, silence the conversation, and breed resentment.
.
People literally cannot handle being faced with the fact that biology actually does matter in some situations. And a lot of female athletes are losing EVERYTHING they ever dreamed of achieving because of it.
.
There's a reason female athletes never make it into the NFL etc -- and it's not all rooted in sexism.
.
But, at least to the extremists, some people are more equal than others I guess. And the rest better shut up, bend over, and take it with a smile.

The people who condone that shit are the extremists. They would say we are not tolerant. Please. Society going backwards when everyday a new pointless issue arises. I'm not against trans people of course, you should be what makes you happy. But, societal norms are not to be modified to satisfy your lifestyle at others' expense.
I love that I live in Mauritius. Gay/ straight/ trans people are not looking for any privilege here. However, the government sucks (we can't have it all good).
I'm thinking of Lea Sprunger, a Swiss athlete. She worked hard all her life to get titanium thighs with the speed. Imagine, if at the olympics, they shatter her dreams by putting men in her discipline. I actually asked her about it, she said all her peers are actually concerned.

She also gave me a long scientific explanation which I'm too stupid to understand.
Tbh, as you say, I by and large don't care what people want to do. Whatever my thoughts on gender are -- if someone has mulled over the decision long enough and realized they feel more comfortable living as and being treated as one gender over the other in everyday life, off you go, please don't eat all the chocolate
.
Where I take issue is when it starts infringing on, erasing, or endangering others.
.
The 50 shades of pronouns thing I do not personally accept nor respect, and I think it's absolutely insane the toll it's taking on society, and that we ever let it get this bad. No one should ever be compelled to say whatever another random human demands they do -- especially not at the risk of losing everything they have if they don't comply. No one should be terrified of essentially getting "MeToo'd" because they didn't correctly guess whether someone identified as a teapot or a green potato or a shnarfinx at a given moment.
.
Gender neutral bathrooms/change rooms, similarly, is one people like to pretend is a cut and dry issue. And, Fine, use them if you like -- provided you have wall to floor stalls, or entire closed off rooms preferably (though those have their own issues). Otherwise you are now trying to erase a boundary that exists for extremely good reasons -- modesty, religion, safety, discouraging people making the sex crimes list... etc.
.
Those problems don't just *go away* because we want them to.
.
.
Medical and legal documents and crime stats, ignoring a person's biological state not only skews stats and what we can learn from them, it can also put people at horrible risk for incorrect treatments
.
And, of course, the main issue here... pitting biowomen against biomen in sports. Pretending that's remotely safe or fair when most of the entire reason womens' sports continue to exist at all is because they can't compete against men.
.
Sports is typically a very short lived career. You have a small window of time where you really peak.
.
Idk the athlete you mentioned, but you're exactly right. She would have worked her entire life for that, and if a transgender athlete had joined, the odds of Lea winning would have dropped to almost nothing.
.
The risk of serious injury also increases. Male bodies have denser bone iirc, and more muscle. There's a reason self-defense for women often focuses on attacking sensitive places to incapacitate assailants, rather than storming in for an all-out brawl.
The fact that people want to silence or deny this because it might hurt some overgrown child's feelings is deplorable behavior imo.
.
And, weirdly, a lot of this stuff is not even turned into an issue by trans people themselves. Many of the ones I've encountered don't support this stuff -- they just want to live and be left alone.
.
It's by and large the white knights and extremists pushing this ideology -- crying victim if you so much as hint you might disagree. Which is not normal, mature, or healthy behavior.
.
Their ironic brand of intolerance is a one way ticket to pain and backlash
