I’m still sorta sketchy on what is implied to have happened to her in the books. I get interspecies partnerships and compromise, but using that as a punishment is, uh… not cool.
Also, unpopular opinion here, Snape was still a dick. He treated everyone like shit, and he may have been good in the end, but that still doesn't undo all the shit he did, the way he treated people. I think he should have been held accountable for treating his students like shit.
But then again, it's not like most of the Hogwarts staff weren't high on some magical drug almost 80% of the time anyway... Especially Mr.Doesn't actually do much as a headmaster, Dumbledore.
Oh, Snape was an absolute jackass. A redeemable jackass, but a jackass. That said, I about half blame Dumbledore. Taking a person with some majorly unprocessed trauma from adolescence, pinning them down to one of the major sites of the trauma, and then putting them in charge of a bunch of adolescents just sounds… ok, that’s less “irresponsible” than it is “blatantly asking for abuse to occur.” Snape is responsible for his own actions, but Dumbledore should be run out of town for having the common sense of a goddamn ostrich.
Also, do wizards have therapy? Because Christ on a bicycle, somebody send Snape to a therapist, that’s gonna take months to untangle.
