Pain response caused the release of endorphins. You can get the same "mild" response by exercising. Try and get your heart rate up to 120-130 bpm for at least 15 min straight, longer if you can. Minor depression can come on like that and sucks but as long as it's mild and you recognize it you can take steps to help mitigate it. Sometimes all you need is a boost to get over it hence the endorphin release. Other times it's not as effective but at least you're benefiting from the exercise.

Yup, this is also why many people self harm by cutting. A lot of people think they're doing it "for attention" or something but they're just trying to release endorphins that their brain lacks. But it's obviously not sustainable. Exercising, being in nature, self-care and mindfulness are the way to go.

I've had to do something like this a few times, esp back in HS, I'd just drop my head and let it bounce off my desk. The most recent one, I kept punching myself in my cheek bone.
