Indeed.
.
Both a lot of the books being banned, and the ludicrous wordplay and mindgames to try and trick people into believing they're not getting censored
Why ban a book? You can freely disagree with the book, but that doesn't make sense to ban it. It's not like books in a HS class don't involve drunken orgies, starting a war over a girl just so you can kill her yourself, calling a bunch of people piles of shit to their face, fucking their own mother, plenty of bestiality, magic creatures that eat you or suck out your soul for no reason what so ever, patricide, an elf raping people in there sleep and giving them fucked up nightmares, entire families being pivoted against each other, entire worlds being shattered and everyone dying, and it's gay sex they are pissed about? Oh, i forgot one, two teenagers banging the shit out of each other and then killing themselves... but these people are pissed two dude or two girls kissed? That's the real irony.
I mean, I understand reasons for banning those books whether they actually make sense or not, but I really don't know why they banned that particular phrase. i still feel like I'm missing something.
I think because saying the phrase "banned books" suggests that freedom of speech can be infringed upon even in a system ostensibly meant to protect it, and the school system is afraid of conveying such an idea
