Well I guess technically a dinosaur would probably taste like something between chicken and lizard?
That said I have no idea what lizard meat tastes like. Maybe it tastes like chicken.
I've eaten a lizard an alligator (leg and tail), and a snake. None of them taste like chicken. The texture on the lizard and snake had the texture of white meat chicken, but they tasted totally different. The alligator's legs were similar, but didn't taste like chicken. The tail was wild; it was closer to.. imagine a pork chop of swordfish, but with the texture of white meat chicken inside a massive fat layer. That's something you either grill the shit out of or chop up into lil bits and deep fry.. with a side of pickles that have been chilling in tequila and jalapenos. The smaller, usually the better... surface area to volume ratio...
preferably later in life, as I do enjoy the company of most lizards. A gila monster, even knowing it won't bite makes me anxious. There is no anti-venom and either you die an agonizing death or get close enough that the rest of life spared is just developing agonizing body issues. Even a Komodo can't do that. A platypus can, but not to such a pronounced effect. How bizarre.
As for the legs and tail of the gator... I have a better recipe I'd try for the tail, not much a fan of the legs, but if I were stranded on an island I would take that over crab, oysters, or clams... or like 85% of fish.
Never liked gator tail. If you can try some soft shelled turtle. That's a pretty good unusual meat. Not much meat on them but it is tasty. Bit like squirrel in that regard. Takes a few to make it worth it for a meal.
easier to catch than a squirrel. Usually you gotta get it cornered and throw a rock at it and hope you spook it enough the freeze instinct sticks long enough
