Because Amazon is changing the lore and characters according to its will and politics just to feed some fake activists and it's disrespecting the books, the book writer and the fans.
Pretty much.
.
They're not making Tolkien, they're making Tokenization.
.
They aren't respecting the lore, they made the world look as generic as possible (I actually thought it was a witcher trailer at one point when I saw the blonde chick.
.
Tolkien's work are INFAMOUS for the amount of detail put into them. People have followed these works for decades.
.
So far what Amazon has shown is not those works.
To make it worse, when these same fans have expressed concerns or unhappiness, or even just pointed out the lack of consistency.... Amazon called them racists.
.
Rather than listen to the reasoning behind any of the concerns, Amazon went on the attack. Gaslighting and hitting every buzzword they could find.
.
And to pile on that, they also held one of the cringiest panels I have ever seen, where a bunch of "super fans" explained how excited they are about the DIVERSITY of the cast. And in nearly the same breath, they made it apparent they don't actually know much at all about the series.
.
And they wouldn't have to if Amazon wasn't passing them off as uberexperts pwning the racists
Maybe the series will be good on its own. Who knows.
.
That's neither the question nor the issue when the people who know the source material well say "this is not the world from these books," and are lambasted in response.
