So- this isn’t new- it goes back to at least the 1920’s and really further back- but has been a big thing since the Cold War era especially. So these are generalities and I’m being incomplete because this is a big ball of yarn we’d need to go through so much history and do so for different generations and different countries individually to really get to. That said- many countries in South America, Cuba, Central America etc. share some history and general culture and lived experiences that are similar.
Culturally and historically through colonization and “conversion” Christianity and other things tend to be prevalent in the grouping. In general we can say that most “Latin countries” lean socially conservative in the terms of US politics. Acquired Survival mentality and cultural mores that are common like prizing self sufficiency tend to enforce that and a fiscal conservatism. Politics between the US and many “Latin countries” in the Cold War led to many immigrants from those….
.. countries coming to the US essentially as a safe haven from persecution etc. at home. Patriotism and nationalism for America tend to be strong with many such people from the era and the often passed down. The fact that much of the conflict and persecution involved brutal radical leftists (communists) is another reason many lean ideologically “right wing,” and due to the experiences of the time and place coupled with the above, values supporting stability and individual freedom like national strength, strict punishment, self reliance, etc etc. make those from “Latin countries” common in right wing politics and the Republican Party. Where there is left there can be some who are far left- and the same is true of right and far right.
So there is a BUNCH I’m leaving out and some complex subjects like the history of the Nazi party and asylum for Nazi criminals and such of some nations and the impact of that as well as the impact on world view from living under brutal regimes and survival scenarios and war etc etc.
all very complex- but, just as the headline says- there are white supremacists who aren’t white. Always have been. There were black people who agreed blacks should be slaves and were “less,” there were Jewish Nazis and the list goes on. It is often the case that any POC that is conservative or Republican or right wing in their politics is accused of being a “white” whatever- supremacist, apologist etc. There are those who will say supporting Donald Trump would qualify a “Latino” as a “white supremacist.” So there are people that exaggerate, but there are cut and dry Latino white supremacists. That’s the story in a nutshell.
Acting like the kinds of fuckheads who say "Black white supremacy", or "Asian white supremacy", or even "Latino white supremacy" are anything but tools and fools trying to manufacture racial discord because they don't have anything or substance to say.
Though at this point? I won't be surprised when you throw in with the same racist fuckheads who used these arguments last time.
Uh huh. So- you take offense that I said that while some people exaggerate and conflate any far enough right leaning person with white supremacists and that is not correct, but there are factually “Latino white supremacists”?
Do you take offense that I said some people incorrectly label any right leaning person a supremacist; or that I said “Latino white supremacists” exist?
If you would like to search the internet, or if you spend enough time at political functions, you can find people who self identify as such. If I have time I might be able to look up an example for you, but really you are the one trying to refute the claim and could use the practice on research so it’s probably best for you to look it up yourself. If I have time I might help you out though. No promises.
I'm not saying they don't exist. I mean, some people exist who think that double masking works, but Latino white supremacists are not "on the rise" except in the minds of racists and liberals (but I repeat myself) and others who don't have a ghost of a point. Present company especially.
Don't bother typing another three pages, or even a single keystroke.
No bother at all, I assure you. I have a few spare moments presently. On who’s authority are they not on the rise? Do you have a source? Data? Sample size? Are we taking globally, nationally, state, city? You’re making very broad statements of fact without producing facts. You’re also conflating a belief with groups of people in the absolute. Am I a racist, a liberal? As we’ve discussed before- I’m very flattered by your urges to talk about me, but I am not in the mood and am not the most open person, so I’ll just stick to the topic and await the results of your research.
But then I realized, these people *are* memes.
