monitors sorta just lay around anyway.... just don't try to pet it and you'll prolly be ok... if you get bit, go to the fuckin hospital immediately. It can't straight up eat you, so when you come back unharmed it'll be confused AF about you not dying and understand how futile it was. They actually are pretty smart... for lizards.
