Largely agree with the sentiment, I would say above the place, the timing is ironic. I mean, the USA is over a year and many millions of dollars into figuring out if making posts like this counts as inciting or supporting, and wether there is actually anything wrong with that. It isn’t just the government, it seems many citizens can’t look at something like this and see it as inciting. We will need to see what if anything comes from the ongoing investigation to the matter before we condemn anyone it seems.
I don’t know this is the wrong place though- I don’t enjoy seeing incitements to insurrection here, but people do regularly post and comment or vote on comments and memes here to show that many users support a sort of “absolute freedom of speech” where people speak as they wish in sites like this, or they bemoan “cancel culture” and “elites silencing dissent..” we have lots of users who were/are upset the same domestic terrorist being investigated was kicked off social media.
So I can’t see the same people who supported one person being able to incite insurrection having the ability to do so and not another. So agreed that this probably isn’t “fun” and peaceful democratic avenues should be explored in politics, disagree with some finer points and find a general humor/sadness in that we are paying millions of dollars to decide if this would classify as inciting to insurrection, and far too many people would consider something like this ok if they agreed with the message.
These are interesting points of view @guest_ and @cakelover
Here in Europe the legal proceedings surrounding January 6 are kinda treated as an internal matter in the US and we don't see much news about it. I suppose this sort of post could be seen as part of a campaign to violently rally against the removal of abortion rights in that context.
My intention though was more along the lines of the recurring post about how the Dutch once are their prime minister. From my Scandinavian and European viewpoint that's a safe kind of post because that generally doesn't happen over here.
I appreciate your input and I'll be more careful in the future so I don't accidentally start a socially liberal revolution in the US.
lol. Thank you Karlboll. I think that at least my mind has been put at ease that you aren’t launching a leftist revolution from across the ocean using funsub as the springboard in which abortion rights are used as a gateway tool for socialism.
It’s a big relief.
I would say here in the US the Jan 6 hearings are mainly be treated as an internal matter of powerful politicians who need to put on a show or risk their necks. lol. Or at the least are being treated as a joke in which the punchline is sadly, as usual, how messed up things are.
I wrote a little “asides” to Karlboll- but just so it’s clear I’m mostly being playful about how dreadful things are and how mixed up people seem to be.
Let me be serious a moment and sum this up in this thread. Tyranny is when your rights are trampled, not when you think that MAYBE they might have been but you have no evidence or reasonable basis to go on beyond being dissatisfied with results. The US federal government did not ban abortions. Abortion bans are currently at the state level, so any trampling of rights is between the states and their citizens right now.
As for insurrection- the United States is founded on insurrection and it is a core value of any “true American” or person of the world with similar values on freedom.
Enshrined in the founding and fundamental documents and principles of these United States is the responsibility of every person to Incite or commit insurrection against tyranny and those who would impose it.
The founders of this nation considered unreasonable taxes enough of a reason to call tyranny- what do you think they’d have called it if the British started mandating rules concerning the vaginas and family planning of colonists…?
Open question. I’m not stating what they would have thought, just asking a question. But in the words of the USA’s founders…
“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”
A bunch of y’all were ready to throw down over masks and vaccines invading your bodily rights. If they’d mandated quarantine for the infected we probably would have had insurrection. At least with the masks and vaccines they gave you the option to make a choice and just have to shop online and not go to concerts. There is no choice here once you’re pregnant is there?
@karlboll- as an asides, I hope that you get/got the humor intended in my posts and didn’t think I was judging you or otherwise critical of you. There’s a bit of sarcasm and such here and there in it- I will say I am sincere in that I do not morally support or advocate violence based on politics, though I’m not saying nor have I said that is what I see your post doing. I don’t see anything referencing anywhere outside of Mexico or advocating any actions- at most one could read the content as support of a specific incident, but I am not in a position to comment on the politics of Mexico in this context. That said… I also want to point out that while I made some references to the recent attempted coup in the United States, those were more to illustrate how ridiculous that situation is than you comment on this situation. While we can draw loose parallels- you are not the president of Mexico, The United States, or anything which the average person browsing this is aware of.
You have not sworn any specific allegiance or responsibility to the countries in this discussion of which I am aware, nor do you wield any direct or (no offense) significant influence or presence (beyond that in the hearts of those who care for or respect you abroad..) I’d also like to point out that violence over political beliefs and violence over denial of individual rights aren’t quite the same. I’m sure we can spot the difference between changing the National flower to a Daisy turning into a violent mob to stop it, and placing chains on what a human may do to their own body turning violent in opposition. Of course finding non violent means is best- but in this time where not so long ago and even still “mask
Mandates” and vaccine mandates are being discussed as tyranny- it does seem odd that so many (of often the same people) would not view this government involvement with the human body as overreach.
“This isn’t about THEIR body, there is another human involved!” Oh. Well… like how we can infect other people with a deadly virus? If you compare the total cases between abortion and covid, more than 10x as many recorded termination resulted from covid 19 on average across the same span of time. So certainly our choices effect others. One can argue a baby must rely on a mother for support- but of course you’d have trouble finding any human that doesn’t rely on others to survive, and at the end of the day most people won’t take the stance that we should be legally be bound as individuals to care for those who cannot care for themselves regardless of personal dangers or consequences. So to compare the Mexico event to the US season of treason (big orange was the reason), doesn’t pencil out nor do these conflicting stances on the “sanctity of life” or “personal choice.”
Probably not the place

Still, that's a good rally to arms in your other comment.
