Depends on if I woke upon urban or rural streets. Rural, find work doing menial labor, for food to start, then gradual pay. Urban, find crackhead, ask where to buy a rock, go to place, stomp that bich out, take his roll, go sell crack at discount if crackhead names another dealer.
As inspectora says- the strategy here sort of depends on where you find yourself. In a rural or remote location your best bet may be to either attempt to find day labor or a sympathetic person to help you; or if you have the skills, to do your best to survive off the land of it provides game and forage and a clean water source. You could also do both- work when it is an option to gain income to buy items that will help you like tools and such, and work the land the rest of the time.
In an urban setting- it sort of depends. Like- if you have a skill set that is marketable, you could dumpster dive, panhandle, and use public facilities like beach or rest area showers etc. and try to be presentable enough to get a job. If you succeed and have a sufficient skills set, your first check could easily be $4-8k which should get you enough seed money to get things rolling on a new life, get off the street, cover work clothes, laundry etc. then you save up over time and improve as you go.
The other option if you can’t find work or have insufficient skills might be graft. Asides dumpster diving and pan handling you can commit petty crimes, shop lifting and theft or pick pocketing, kiting checks, palming money, over draft schemes etc. using things like bank referral incentives by acquiring the name of a customer and claiming a referral when you open an account you can easily add 50% more money that you invested. Using a combination of specific tactics with debit card, check, and other transactions you can triple your money and overdraft. Things like that.
Stealing the clothes to get a job, shoes, accessories etc. if you look like you have money and polish, people often assume you do vs. looking like a “bum.” From there you can either use your new image to get a legitimate in to try and get work, or you can run cons based off a fake persona as someone with money.
You can go further in with things like card theft, pawn schemes, investment schemes etc. by spreading cash around and making yourself look like you are wealthy. Often times you can grease the palms of lower paid employees at prestigious businesses who have access like maintenance or customer service etc. to gain access to sensitive information, prime marks for cons, or to set your cons up so it looks like you have enough money that you have access or special treatment. Social engineering is a big part of this, gaining things like letterhead and information of established businesses or accounts can give you access to certain lines of credit or other relationships the business has. “I know it’s supposed to go through this channel Darcy, I messed up bad though by not making the reservation and my boss is going to kill me. These rich assholes don’t take no…” things like that. People will often bend rules etc. if you are persuasive and appeal to their sensibilities.
To be clear I am not advocating these sorts of actions and it is important to say that these things are illegal and generally immoral. They are whosever possibilities if one found themselves in a “life or death” situation.
Also- as for hitting up crack dealers, it could be a valid strategy but if possible I would recommend hitting up weed dealers. Legalization many places has diminished the feasibility of this, but ideally if you can find your way to upper or upper middle class suburbs you can often find “rich kids” who sell week to their friends and have nice things and money already because of their parents. These kids tend to be soft and unarmed, unlike urban crack dealers who are often part of a larger and potentially dangerous organization and may operate within areas controlled by a gang or drug enterprise. Solo rich kids selling drugs tend to be easy targets and they have too much at stake often to report to their parents or anyone else they got jumped for their roll.
