It is pretty funny, and ham+pineapple and sometimes+ cheese and other things is a popular savory crepe. Ham is routinely cooked with pineapple, and pineapple and other citrus is commonly used in or as marinade for pork and other meat- partially because it helps break the proteins down and tenderize the meat and partially for flavor. So it isn’t like the concept of meat- especially ham- and pineapple are so odd or completely insane.
If you don’t like pineapple on your pizza that’s ok. Some people don’t like sausage or peppers or mushrooms. Lots of people don’t like anchovies and of course there are people who use sauces other than tomato like BBQ or ranch based sauces or pesto or straight olive oil etc.
some people don’t even like cheese on a pizza. On the other end of the spectrum- we have all sorts of toppings. In Japan corn is a pretty common pizza topping. None of that is too odd when you think about it. Look at tacos or burritos- some have rice, some have beans. Some have corn,
some have peppers or tomatoes or cheese or all sorts of things- and some don’t have those things. You have some bread, burrito, sandwich, pizza etc. you may have a sauce or semi viscous “sauce”- mayonnaise on a sandwich or aioli or mustard etc. sour cream or salsa or other sauces or guacamole in a burrito, pesto or tomato or oil etc. on a pizza. You maybe have cheese and maybe don’t. Maybe have meat and maybe don’t. But why is it so odd to place the same things you’d put with another type of bread on any of these? You can put Mayo and ham in a tortilla and wrap it. You can make a pepperoni sandwich and you can put cheese and beans and peppers on a pizza. It is just slightly different bread. So do you, but I still don’t get the whole “pineapple on pizza” rivalry. People put anchovies on pizza. Like- it’s flat bread. Just bread.
Worked in a pizza place. Tried it many times because tbh it looked good but it just tastes bad. Now that could be the pizza sauce/pineapple mix but it's just gross.
In England, we used to have cheesy pinapple as snacks at parties.
blocks of Cheese and Pineapple, on cocktail sticks.
Start the haters on that, they won't look back.
