You believe what you want. It's not like "Ohh I'm baptised, now I believe in the catholic relegion". You don't start believing just because you are baptised. I'm "Catholic" too, but I don't really believe, I need evidence to accept stuff.
that's what confirmation is for. you actually get to choose at that point if you want to accept the religion. i took the classes and all (twice....b/c my mother begged me to try to find it in my heart again) and I just couldn't. none of it made sense to me what-so-ever. [Other than Jesus's teaching of love, acceptance, and peaceful rebellion. Jesus is pretty cool dude. The rest: a bunch of mumbo-jumbo used to control the masses with their fear of death. Just my opinion; please don't crucify me for it]
Confirmation is when you're like.. twelve years old, right? Who can think clearly about stuff as heavy as theology at that age? Most twelve year olds have had no experience of life beyond what their parents and teachers have exposed them to, much less cause to be thinking critically about such an omnipresent, happy, helpful institution. I'm with you, positive, but I don't like being on the church's Member List because some dude tipped water on my head when I was a baby.
In my town it's when you're 12 years old, and I can tell you, you don't really think clearly about being catholic or not. It happened to me, I knew I didn't believe in God, but I didn't think it was that important, I wanted to do what my friends did. I regret it now. My brother is going to recieve communion this year, and I'm totaly against it but my mother just won't listen to me because she says he is the one who has to decide, but all my brother can see is presents (I don't realy know if you recieve presents, but at least, in Spain we do).
So I did some digging and it's supposed to happen at "the age of discretion," which is now considered up to about 16, but was traditionally 7 years old.
Apparently the mafia and the See have been complicit for centuries in Europe's money/power games. Pope Francis has made some comments about "dismantling the poles of economic power in the Vatican" and apparently one of the southern families has been making threats against him in response.
Now I'm Catholic whether I like it or not...
