There is another option. Step 1, buy 10lbs of bacon. Step 2, cook the bacon in skillet until all the bacon is cooked. Step 3, pour out bacon grease and lightly wipe with paper towel when finished. Step 4, eat bacon. If skillet isn't seasoned enough repeat steps 1-4 until it is.

It's rather misrepresenting the situation, this meme. They were having a debate, but really more of a discussion, about the issue. The show invited Shapiro to this discussion because he has the views he has. You can't really have a debate if everyone espouses the same viewpoint on the topic. To paraphrase Ben from some of his other speeches, in private he's more than willing to call people what they would like to be called. Whether he agrees with it or not at that point it doesn't really matter it's the polite thing to do. What he's not going to do is go against his viewpoint in a public forum where he's supposed to be arguing for his viewpoint. You don't "win" a debate or argument by conceding to your opponent. To then enact violence and threaten more in what should have been, at most, an impassioned discussion is reprehensible.

I think this is one of the few times I hold a quite different viewpoint from you. Most of what you said seems quite logical in its progression and it may in fact not be wrong or not all wrong. The main problem I have with labeling things as violent simply because of perceived power of another is that it quickly moves into the subjective. We're already seeing it on some college campuses where they label speech, not a call to action, just expressing your opinion as violence. Then because they claim it's violence they feel justified in enacting physical violence against that person. Which they then call self defense.

Is this the reason why it is illegal to have passengers on pickup truck beds? 2 comments

Well it does depend on where you're at as to whether it's illegal, but yes.

Well originally a turnip was used, but the trend shifted to pumpkins once they became available because they were easier to carve.

So you can't actually turn the mic off on your phone. What you can do is tell programs not to listen or not to respond. This also means that anyone that "hacks" your phone can listen to everything it hears. If you truly don't want the mic on you have to pull the battery. Of course many modern phones don't let you do that so I suppose you could always smash it with a hammer.

Mythbusters did an entire episode with Mentos and soda to get the best results.

No. The reason Mentos cause soda to foam and shoot is because of cavitation. The Mentos shell is full of cavities. The CO2 collects in the cavities and forms bubbles, with enough cavities it causes the carbonation in the soda to release quickly, hence the reaction. The picture above will just cause massive foaming right away and little reaction will occur in the bottom bottle. Also diet soda tends to have a better reaction.

It occurred to me, as I read minimum immediately, that this is what it must be like for Russians reading their cursive. It may be completely unreadable to me but with a language I'm so familiar with it things like ^ are no problem at all.

Nice bit of cogitation there. I was re-reading a series, Troy Rising, and some of the aliens were arguing about whether we were on the whole a peaceful or violent race. One of the arguments for peaceful was that we place all sorts a laws on what you can do in a war. What is considered legal or illegal. What is considered a bad war and what is a good war. Now we all know there is no thing as a good war. War is inherently bad, as you've stated. It occurred to me that that is in fact the reason for the rules. We can be and are rather horrible and a war lets people find new ways to be horrible. We make rules not because we are inherently peaceful but because we know we can be so nasty and are trying to mitigate that factor.

While this is interesting, there was a study done in 1960 that also showed interesting but disturbing results. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/how-mouse-utopias-1960s-led-grim-predictions-humans-180954423/

Of course if the brother was smart he'd have done all this and still removed the work entirely from the computer to be returned upon payment. So she can waste her time trying to find it or just pay him back.
This totally explains it! 4 comments
