I cannot understand why people are saying they can remain friends after a breakup 8 comments
ewqua · 7 years ago
So...not being angsty and spiteful after a breakup might mean you were never in love? I call bullshit, it's just what a rational and mature person would do. Now of course hanging out every day after breaking up is suspicious, but staying friends or just neutral with each other is a good attitude.

From my personal experience, 99% of the time a man shouts a at a girl it really is obscenities. I don't even remember when a man I don't know shouted anything else but I can imagine the situation, I guess. If it's anything else, obviously I'll listen and so will any rational person.

I see. I'm only vaguely familiar with the greentext format so excuse me for that. In that case I agree that the text implied something which is not true. I still think it's hard to keep your calm in a situation like this, especially when you're a girl who's on average physically weaker than a guy because of differences in metabolism, and a group of older, taller, heavier, and probably stronger guys start shouting obscenities at you, but in any case that's a situation you'll hopefully never get into, creepy staring and catcalling is almost an everyday thing for me but I wouldn't want anyone else to go through it cause it's creepy and gross.
I do indeed. I didn't know funsubstance could do that.

Garlog, I know that you think you wouldn't be scared because everyone believes they are invincible until they actually face the situation, but I'm telling you, if this happened to you, I doubt you would just walk past not giving a shit. You're usually quite reasonable so I don't understand how can you just dismiss this as "I wouldn't be scared because I'm not a coward, unlike all women."
As to what concerns the story, it's true whether you like it or not.

I call bs on that. I bet you'd be scared shitless. I do martial arts and even I get nervous when a group of drunk guys starts shouting "eyy hot cheeks c'mere let's fuck" at me. They're mostly harmless but never underestimate the strenght of a drunk group of people, crowd mentality mixed with alcohol is a dangerous thing, and I say this as someone who's friends with a girl who got raped by a group of drunk guys while walking home from a concert. Sure when they yell "you're pretty" I take it as a compliment and keep walking, but if you say you totally would not be nervous around a group of people who yell gross shit at you, you're a liar or maybe just don't realize how creepy the situation is cause you never had it happen to you.

During the day, I might even take it as a compliment, depending of what they shout. At night I get a bit spooked but my ultimate solution to this (both during the day & night) is staring them dead in the eye so they know you're not to be messed with, same with guys who shamelessly stare. My bf said it's a bad idea because they might take it as a challenge, but that's why I only do this in crowded places, when I'm completely alone I pretend not to notice them and just keep walking.

Good point, I haven't watched this series/movie so I'm oblivious about the context.
Still, 95% of the time I see "boo hoo she friendzoned me" posts, it's the situation I've described above. And even yet, is being friends with someone "witty and bright" so bad, even if she doesn't want to have a relationship with you? My current relationship is a result of 8 years of friendship, I feel like seeking only a relationship without becoming friends first (or just getting to know each other well without having ulterior motives) may get you a relationship faster, but it will also end faster. Then again this is a kids situation so my adolescent advice is probably not very valuable anyway.

Exactly, I had a crush on a friend but he rejected me, we're still friends because I can get past that. I really don't see what the big deal is. Sure it was hard when he told me about other girls he liked, but I got over it and we're still good friends. I don't see why is it so hard for guys to stay friends with a girl. Maybe stop looking only at her body and start noticing she has a personality too? Honestly, if someone's shallow to the point they fuck up a few years long friendship despite the other person having a likeable personality just because they got rejected by them, they don't deserve a relationship. A relationship is a form of friendship in terms of emotional support and so on. If you just wanna fuck, find a hooker.

Why do people praise this behaviour? Imagine being friends with a guy for years just to find out all he secretly wanted was to fuck you, and if you don't give him that, he tells you to go to hell? Why do guys act like the friendzone is such a bad thing, don't you value the girl's personality enough to stay friends with her? Do you literally only care about having sex with her, and that's why you pretend to be her friend but leave when she says no? (I know this mature talk isn't suitable to this exact situation as they're both kids, but this usually applies to most "friendzone" situations)

Reminds me of that asshole nerd who did the same but he reserved the seats at the wrong time, meaning he bought all the tickets for a screening 12 hours after the premiere. Instant karma.

My father's year old iPhone's display broke (not because he dropped it or anything, a big yellow stain appeared on it, under the glass) a few days ago too. I told him that I think the timing's a bit sketchy but he just said "Nah, can't be related." He had it fixed though.
I honestly don't think it's a coincidence, there was recently a scandal that Apple slows down older devices with every iOS upgrade, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was happening too. I'm just glad I have a Nexus.

Yeah but the point is to have as many people on it as possible to reduce emissions and pollution, if they make it so everyone has their own bench, that means they send out twice as many buses as people need, and that kind of takes the point.
Then again I think Scandinavian countries can afford to do this since Scandinavia is probably the most eco-friendly place in the world, but still...
