My friends went. (I didn't go because two ended up dating and one told me to back off) but she said it was really fun and was like watching a 5k where everyone's dressed up in gay pride theme. And she said one guy threw condoms to the teens.
You are going to raise a child based on your beliefs no matter what it is. Going to church or gay rallies whatever. The point is, as the child gets older he or she is going to see the world in their own perspective.
I was raised to believe in God. I was baptized at about age 7. I'm okay with the fact that my parents raised me to be Christian, but as I got older, I started to look at everything differently. Long story short, I am an athiest.
Kso, I am a Pentecostal Christian, and while I don't support homosexuality, I support gay marriage. Hypocritical as it may seem I believe that just because of my certain beliefs as a Christian I shouldn't stop someone from having the life they want. Everyone has different beliefs but for a very long time the church and Christians said "you have to follow what I believe , and that sucks to be you.".. its equal rights for everyone.
At the same time, any gay pride parade I've seen is a lot of sexual images, which no matter what you believe you know isnt great for a kid to see :p but with the context given in the photo it just shows a kid supporting their fathers who love them and have given them a home <3 I see nothing wrong with that kid being there.
if only more people were like you, sigh but the comments above prove just how ignorant and un open people are to change. personally i think keeping gays from marriage is the same as slavery, granted you aren't forcing them to work for you, but you are denying them freedoms just because they are different and you don't agree with it. i thought that people were past all this, i mean america had an entire civil war about slavery, haven't we learned our lesson? change is scary, so what, people need to get over their homophobia and accept it. i myself am straight but one of my best friends is gay and he is the most amazing person and for anyone to look down on him because he is gay is wrong.
It's just basic human rights, straight people have a right that gay people don't. It should be a simple black and white situation of 'stop putting religion in politics and have equal human rights' but people are too ignorant to move pass the fact that what they believe isn't going to dominate the world.
I know as a Christian I try to think about doing everything in a way of which Christ would be happy with... But calling people fags and saying have fun in hell is not what he would want. The world is changing for better and worse and eventually it will become a national law, not soon, but it will happen, so Christians need to accept it and stop torturing homosexuals now.
Um the shrimp thing is Jewish, old testament. Jesus ate whatever he wanted to eat, he wasn't about the letter of the law but it's intent and it's intent wasn't to fuck anyone up with stupid shit. As for masturbating, maybe the Catholic Bible says something there but the only masturbation I can recall in the Bible was some guy who'd "spill his seed" before having sex with his wife (formally his deceased brother's wife) because he didn't want to have a kid with her (it was a Jewish thing, when his brother died the wife became his and it was his duty to be her husband and...). That said, when children are young they really have no choice whether they go to church or gay parades. Hopefully when they're old enough and able to make more choices for themselves their parents would listen to them and respect their wishes about attending church and gay parades. Further more...
One of my friends (probably more, but one that I know of) is only Christian because she was raised to be so. She doesn't know what aspects she allegedly wouldn't have if she wasn't Christian. She only believes in God and Jesus and opposes any interference with pregnancy (be it abortion or stem cell research or you name it). If people eventually grew up to make up their own mind then why doesn't she know what she believes in and why?
That's her specifically, I'm sorry the guests whole point unravels because your friend can't think on her own? I grew up Christian. I've questioned it daily and I have had extensive research into what I believe, also I've participated in religious studies to get an understanding of what others believe.
Thank God (literally) that not all religions have fallen into that trap. That was a Dark Ages adaptation of religion. Unfortunately many still hold on to it because it is easy.
I've tried to be nice!!!!!! IT. WON'T. WORK!!!!!!!!! They won't listen!!!!!! Maybe if they pulled their brainless heads out of their asses we might be able to talk a little!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apart from saying God isn't real, (which is disrespecting beliefs, really) what did they do wrong? They just pointed out that kids will always grow up with their parents' beliefs. I'm a vegetarian. Naturally, I'm going to teach my kid to love animals as I do. I'm gay and a transsexual. I'm going to teach my kid the truth about gender and to accept everyone. I'm Christian. I'm going to teach my kid to believe in God. Any other parent would do the same. They teach their children what they believe.
How is saying god isn't real disrespecting beliefs? That's someone's opinion. If I don't think god is real, I'm not going to sugar coat it to make you feel better, but I'm not being disrespectful either.
It's people wanting to be the victim. If someone tells me that god isn't real I won't care. I don't like playing victim. Your beliefs are your beliefs and mine are mine. Just respect the fact that my God requires that I tell you the good news.
If I for instance don't like Muslims (it's a fucking example don't lose it) I won't go out and show it in their faces, children do get to decide later on, they are only within their parents control for a few years, gay isn't a choice, it's mental. It stays and it stays forever, from day 1. Taking your children to any rally is irresponsible btw. So, stop attacking everyone and shut up. Also darkanhell, do you make it your goal to make others miserable? Or are you just that way? Coming here to fs and chasing users away that have been here for years. Disgusting.
NO offence but when the little kid will grow others will make fun of him.. its a negative aspect of gay couple that adopts children.. the positive aspect is that they will give to a certain kid a home and love.
P.S.:THIS is my opinion
Things are getting better. And kids will be made fun of for /everything/. I was made fun of for being too pale, for having glasses... I was picked on constantly, and that was before kids knew I'm gay. People are having better attitudes about it all the time. Soon enough, it won't be an issue, anymore. Plus, things can't change if nothing is done differently. : )
I'll answer for the guest haha. Well I agree that children who don't know what they're doing at church are impressionable and that innocence and trust can be taken advantage of, but my memories from Church are lessons telling me to be nice to others as Christ was, and that no matter what I had someone who loved me unconditionally. But keep in my mind that was just my situation, and there are a lot of corrupt churches, which really sucks /: I think its okay to take children to a church you trust as its ok to not take your kids to church. The shrimp and masturbation comment however made me laugh because we believe the only way to heaven is accepting Jesus, that being said your sins won't put you in hell, or else everyone wil be partying with Satan in the final times ;)
