4. The feeling of accomplishment when you see your entire collection altogether.
5. The satisfaction of throwing the book away in anger and knowing it won't break.
@countrygirl
You get E-readers that lasts for weeks even months if it's only used one hour a day.
@lemmeliveinbooks
Most E-readers come with a sturdy and solid cover and screen.
@lucifer
I think you're over reacting a bit most E-readers are under $200.
Dipends does Apple have one ??
I'm not offending books, I'm defending technology
For the sake of argument, why don't we also list why an e-reader is good?
1- small, all books are available in a slim tablet
2- any book you want can be downloaded at any time, you don't have to go to the store
3- it has exactly the same content as the book, just without "page turning" and "the smell" which people think actually makes the book any better
4- the battery can last for almost a week, so you only ever have to plug it in every 5-6 days, and it only takes about half an hour to charge
.
I'm not saying they're better than books, but e-readers have thier ups, just like books
@balonyman
No one reads for only an hour a day.
Who wants to tap a screen when you read. That's why the Egyptians invented paper.
Books are only $20 at most.
Books can not be deleted.
You get a book wet there is still a chance for it to dry out, and still be useable. You get a e-reader wet bye bye book collection.
Books don't crash.
Books survive centuries
Books can raise in price for an original first print.
Every try to get a e-reader signed by an author?
Something happens to electricity say in an apocalypse, how many of your e-readers will become cutting boards?

Look I'm not bashing on books, but y'all are hating on e-readers like they're some sort of plague. Each has it's ups and downs.
I will say this towards e-readers.
They don't give you paper cuts. lol

They also solve a lot of storage problems, you won't ever need a bookshelf, you don't have to worry about a book being too big to carry around, plus there's also an e-reader with a little top light so you can read it in the dark, but it still looks like a book

I don't have the shelf space for my books in my current house so I have at least six hundred books in boxes in storage. I'll never get rid of my personal library and I'll never stop adding to it, especially timeless nonfiction and first editions of my favorite novels. However, when I need a book now, I can download it quickly and easily to my e-reader and I can read or reference as I like. And once the book is in my account I can also reference it from phone or laptop. Listen, I think books are great; I LOVE my books, but the power of books is in the words, not the paper. Boxes and boxes of paper are useless to me if I don't have ready access and a proper catalog system to find what I need when I need it. So...different strokes for different folks is all I'm saying, I guess.
If you don't want do delete something, you don't have to.
Waterproof E-readers. Have you ever actualy herd of a reader crashing ?? The apocalypse really ?? Well then, every 9 out of 10 book are going to get burned.
Arguing about whether a book is better on an e-reader or in paper format is like having an excellent meal and arguing about the shape of the plate the meal was served on.
I absolutely love books, but I also love reading them on my kindle. I have a kindle touch (no backlight) and I only charge it once a month, I read around 5 hours a day, I have saved a TON of money (the kindle was $75 and books are $2-$5), I can fit the five books that I'm currently reading into my backpack along with all my textbooks and laptop (couldn't do that with actually books), and I have saved paper.
You can have the whole library of Alexandria on the e-reader and it wouldn't even be half full!
Books where invented to store and share information!
As long as there will be electricity, books will be inferior to e-readers! I don't own a e-reader this is my neutral opinion. So you can downvote me now
Can you lot just chill out? We like books for the content, not the smell. Would you rather have an impressive library or a single e-reader? Would you like 100 dead trees or a slightly more environmentally friendly e reader?
1. The smell
2. The feel
3. Batteries don't die
5. The satisfaction of throwing the book away in anger and knowing it won't break.
7. Feeling cool while licking your finger tip and flipping the page.
