How the fuck do you teach kids the alphabet if there isn't an order for them to remember it in. Without the order, we'd almost always certainly forget at least one.

It's just easier to remember it that way but the fact still stands that it doesn't HAVE to be in order

It's in the name. A and b first ('alpha' and 'beta'; 'alphabet'), so doesn't it seem odd pointing that out?
