That's why I live in fucking Britain. For example my grandad spend over month in intensive care and then a normal ward....... for free (with operation)
At least getting sick won't mean that we need to sell our possessions to pay for our lives.

When I see my hospital bill as an American
A very simple dental procedure: 500 dollars
Arm broken: 1000 dollars
Called an ambulance because I was dying: 3000 dollars
Had surgery: FATALITY *watches as house and goals of life evaporate*
You end up paying through taxes wherever you live just it's not nearly as much so suddenly so with for example the NHS in the UK you can rely on them anytime as you pay it through your taxes and not upfront. Don't take free health care for granted.
The government does not pay for anybody. The taxpayers do. This perception that any government has unlimited resources is absolutely insane. Governments do not generate revenue. They take yours.
