The major trick with that is to put the tie in so the end is inside the body panel and if possible get colored ones that match the paint.

Yeah, we used black ones. Drilled small holes on each side of the crack and figuratively sewed it back together with the ties. Works great

Its better then getting insurance involved and also cheaper.
