I just finished a clinical rotation at a nursing home and I'm going to miss the people I took care of so much! They're still so witty and have amazing stories to tell. One day I hope to be as interesting to a younger person when I'm that old. Always remember, they were young once too.
This is so cute!!!
Btw, does everyone in America say "for Pete's sake", 'cause I've seen it twice today and I'm starting to get really curious about who Pete is...
Mickey Mouse's friend who is always trying to trick him, his name is Pete.
Its just a saying and I really dont know the origins, sorry for the kind of snarky response its just the first thing that came to mind
You might not be too far off the mark... vintage cartoons have had a bigger influence on language than most think. Take Nimrod for example. Said now to be derogatory about someone who is a fool and/or incompetent. Nimrod was actually a hunter of great skill and prowess, but Bugs Bunny said it about Elmer Fudd sarcastically. The sarcasm was lost on most people and foolish incompetence is what they thought it ment.
Once I was visiting a nursing home with my little sister, who was about seven at the time. We went into the big room where the elderly ate their meals to speak with our great x 1000 aunt and as we left, she gave her a hug. Another old woman nearby who had seen it asked for a hug as well, and before long my sister was dealing out hugs left and right. It was the darnedest thing. (:
Fuck, my eyes are pouring hail over here.
Just a smile. A big misty-eyed smile. :)
