The 2 articles I found about this were the same, verbatim. I'm a little skeptical, but if it's true it's amazing. They say the boy has other medical issues, including a seizure disorder and bacterial lung issues, but those aren't catastrophic. I'll cross my fingers and allow my faith to be restored a bit.
It depends on the degree of the damage weather or not the eye can be repaired for instance a damaged lens can be replaced the fluid inside the eye can be replaced but nerve damage is 99% of the time irreparable unless they have improved the technology involved. I know when I was injured next to nothing could be done short of removing my eye and sealing the socket.
Eye transplants are currently impossible. If it was a partial transplant the article would have specified. Also, there is no way to know what site it is, so we cannot know if the article is credible. There are no sources as well. Please, people of the internet, do not blindly be live everything you see on the internet, please!
Proud of my country :)

My dad has that eye disease also in his right eye, and they tell him he isn't yet 'blind enough' to have it operated on, despite the fact he cannot read or recognise his family until they speak to him :(

According to these sites, a full eye transplant is not possible. The couple probably gave only a part of their eye or this story is indeed a fake.
Has to see Malaysia.
