This made me cry...that kid is so cute and it's sad that at a young age he had to endure something that doesn't always work...this child must have his own angel looking out for him
I know doctors who themselves thank God after performing a successful operation.
Some people have faith, that doesn't mean that they ignore the doctor. They simply believe that their god played a role in the doctor's success. And you know what? Until you or I die, neither of us can say whether or not a deity actually has had anything to do with it.
Don't mind sadtruth. IIRC, I caught him saying something stupid some time ago, and he's desperate for revenge or something. Now he's just another in a long line of haters that will never let go of their past failures, and will cling to their petty downthumbs and illogical snipes until their soul is consumed.
Once again sadtruth shows us the extent of his intelligence.
Protip: If you are uncomfortable with people hitting that close to home, try minding your own fucking business.
Wow it was all over before, you could have just thought what you wanted and left, but now you come back once again. Are you sure it's me who wants the argument?
This is amazing. To be able to have the science and medicine that we can. To do these procedures and have adults and infants survive and live normal lives. It just makes you think of how truly amazing we all are. So truly incredible.
I love all the positive comments so far, I needed a bit of positivity! Modern medicine is amazing, it always blows my mind. What I love about this picture though is how this kid is just looking like they're taking it in stride. Kids are such an incredible reminder that sometimes you have to take the life you have and just go with it.
Sometimes things suck, sometimes life is beautiful beyond description, but it's always worth riding it out.
There's no reason to feel ashamed of scars. I have a visible scar on my face, were everyone can see, but (luckily for me, I guess) it's gotten smaller as I grew and people don't notice unless they're really close.
I think it's a little sad that he never really saw himself without it, but for that same reason, he'll learn that it's part of him.
Yeah no reason to be ashamed of your scars. Half my face is one big scar that simply shows I survived something that by all rights should have been my death.
Yes of course you survive why else would you spend thousands of dollars to replace a heart. This is coming from so one who has survived three of them. (:
My daughter just had open heart surgery 2 weeks ago. It's amazing how well she's recovered. Kids are resilient, and deal with this type of thing so much better then adults.
The fact that we have the ability to keep someone alive while their heart is opened up and repaired speaks to how far medicine has come in recent years.
That kid is adorable!
Were you the one who was going to buy their daughter Hello Kitty-slippers for their surgery? Because I remember a post where a girl was up and walking after surgery because her HK-slippers made everything better, and a parent saying in the comments that they should buy slippers for their daughter, who was having open heart surgey in a few months.
