This was an invention made with good intent drawn out by women (and men) as the biggest FU to women ever conceived of. Why is it so wrong for women to be able to also prevent rape? I understand rape is a horrible thing in society (men get raped too) but honestly these guys were trying to help and if you're too stuck up in your high and mighty ways to see that then you're just as shallow as you perceive those men to be. I also doubt very seriously only men worked on this project and idea. Everything we do is wrong to someone.
It's not saying women can prevent their own rape, it says "We want you to be safe, so this tells you if this person is trying to harm you." It's a great fucking invention, dear lord, people bitch that nothing was being done to prevent sexual assaults well now people are making an effort to help and they're still bitching.
Ok so the problem I have with this line of logic is this; murder and theft are universally seen as wrong, there is no societal stigma saying that these things might be ok if the person was dressed a certain way. And yet these things happen, a lot. And you don't hear a whole lot of "teach kids not to murder" because it has been widely accepted that there will always be people who murder and the best we can do is teach people some preventative measures. I'm not saying that we shouldn't work harder to teach kids (male and female) to respect other peoples' bodies and right to say no, I'm just saying that it is probably a bad idea to abandon preventative measures because no matter how much rape rate declines it will always be there just like murder and all of the other atrocities that people commit.
I carry around with me a 6-7in pocket knife everywhere I go (outside of school). I don't do it for looks, I do it as a preventative action so that I don't get mugged/jumped but you don't see me outraged at the knife industry for being able to protect myself from others who may do harm to me or my loved ones. Feminism...
Guys, you're preaching to the choir. This post is clearly mocking the twisted logic of this type of feminist. I think we can all agree that the anti-rape polish is a good idea
I'll bet that she also doesn't wear her seat belt, use turn signals or brakes because staying safe on the roads is every one else's responsibility too.
I do agree with the idea of the nail polish, but the problem is that it might create more victim blame, such as when a woman is blamed for dressing provocatively. "It was her fault for not wearing nail polish"
That's stupid. I mean yeah, take normal precautions (i.e. Don't walk alone at night with earbuds in and holding a Gucci bag in the Bronx) but you can't go your entire life hiding from any situation that might potentially contain douchebags. That's letting them win.
Ok I'll rephrase that. In the event that she is sexually assaulted (if it could have been stoped by the very product she so openly insulted) would be a very ironic plot twist to her vew and comment about the POTENSIALLY LIFESAVING invention, would satisfy me !!
It would satisfy you that someone was mistaken about a product and ended up being sexually assaulted and in risk of her life because of it? You're sick.
If she used it, something like that wouldn't happen in the first place. And yes I would, only because she is putting herself and anyone else's life in danger and I love irony aspecially when it comes to stupid people like her !!
How is she putting herself and anyone else's life in danger by NOT wearing a nailpolish? Additionally, the nailpolish does not save you from rape. It only shows if your drink has been drugged, which can let you know that someone wants to take advantage of you. You can be raped without being drugged, so it could happen regardless of her wearing the nailpolish or not. Hate to break it to you (nah, not really), but you're the one that comes off as stupid out of everyone..
I know exactly what it does and what it's used for that's why I said "(if it could have been stoped by the very product she so openly insulted)". And she is AGAINST it wich means she would not support it and would stop it if it were in her power to do so, which could have prevent other girls/women from suffering the same fate !!
