I think it's called feminism because to achieve equality most of the things that must be changed are in favor of women. But yeah, equalism would be a better name
This is the ten billionth post about feminism on this site. There's lots of other topics that is going on with society too.
But that's none of my business.
Off topic but your username made me crack up in a quiet classroom, when someone asked why I had to make something up because admitting that you were laughing at something that includes the word orgy in a christian university is kinda frowned upon lol.
One could argue that if we are ever going to change the way society sees female rights, men should be more involved. If we were to try and have complete equality we should all stand together all fight for one purpose and the fight alone would bring us together. Every prejudice is rooted in ignorance, if you destroyed ignorance you in turn would destroy prejudice. If we are going to keep putting people in boxes ( black, white, brown, female, male, gay, straight ect) then the very act of separation keeps unity unreachable.
The way that we as people connect each other is by sharing and caring about each others' struggles. These are not boxes we put each other in, this is a spotlight we attempt to shine on those whose stories who have been ignored.
If a man can't call himself a "feminist" because the name implies female qualities, then this is just one more argument as to why the movement as well as the name are still needed.
Still the case in several countries around the world. Also, lapidation of cheating wives, compulsory burqa, generalized female circumcision (aka forced clitoridectomy), and so forth.
Women are allowed to vote, to take part in politics and discussions in general, to work, to state their opinion, to educate ourselves, to report domestic abuse etc. The free lifes women in our countries live, they only can live because of what feminists have done. Look at other countries: Like orgyofevidence stated, these things still happen around the world. Women aren't allowed to drive. One man really wanted to forbid them to laugh in public. Feminism made it possible that men can't just come and say: You're not allowed to do this or that because you're a woman. But in other countries they still can. Because being a woman is worth less than being a man. I am thankful for the feminists of former days because in my country I am not worth less (except when it goes for payment - still need to work on that)
Those of you who said it allowed women to vote are wrong. Womens suffrage movement which began in the late 1800's allowed white women (not all women) to vote. It wasn't till the 60's black men and women could vote. Feminism was a word only created in the 70's after voting rights were already established.

You're getting quite hung up on that word, aren't you? You asked what feminism has done, and we answered - it's unimportant to your question (as well as the overall issue) that feminism happens to be a movement that was formally named after it had come into being. Women's suffrage was (and is) a feminist movement.
Okay so if the name can change then to now why cant it change again? One with which to include everyone?

The name isn't important - some people call the movement feminism, others call is equalism, but overall it doesn't matter as long as you support the cause.
And if you don't support a movement or cause simply because of its most commonly known name, you are a fool.
Says the guy who goes on and on about how pampered women are on multiple posts and accounts. I find it hard to believe you support it when you constantly bash the whole movement over a couple of loud feminazis and get hung up over one word.
But that's none of my business.
But that's none of my business.
But that's none of my business.
but that's none of my business
But that's none of my business.
But that's none of my business.
But that's none of my business.
