That would be awesome but making any of those things actually free is a tad, well, impossible. Even if you don't pay out of pocket you'll pay in taxes. Now making those things more affordable is certainly something that could be done...

In other counties it is free, but the taxes are higher.

It all just depends on where your government chooses to spend those tax dollars. You need a good government with a good budget and good long term plans for the future

Norway is like that: we have fairly high taxes, but that means that I (or a family with low income who can't afford much) can get an x-Ray (for example) and not get ruined by it. Additionally, I pay like 3 dollars a year for birth controll pills A YEAR, because between the ages of 16-25 you get a 20$ discount pr package (usually 3 months pr package) . If I used a cheaper brand, it wouldnt cost me anything.

Oh, and universities are free too. So it's possible, but only if the people are willing to pay taxes.

And Norway has a population of five million people. That and you have rich natural resources, oil exportation being about 50% of total exports. Meanwhile the USA has 300 million people and we refuse to explore any of our natural resources.

Oh yeah I forgot. Our taxes are pretty high here in America, its just that most of money is spent on our military.

What are you talkibg about? Most taxes, in the US, go toward social security.

Yeah, currently military spending takes up about two percent of our budget.

First we need to get the "if you dont go to collage you wont amount to anything" idea out of this country. College isnt for everyone. So many people complain about their student debt, but they knew the cost when they started. Google 'Mike Rowe college' if your curious.

Ridiculously high cost of college tuition wont be fixed by throwing tax $ at it any more than healthcare cost will. Using everyones tax $ will continue to fuel the fire and actually encourage universities to charge even more! It will be fixed when young kids make good decisions and opt not to burry themselves in debt for a degree from a "good" college in a subject that doesnt have a high demand in the real world. This country needs 'trades' people right now and there is a pile of $ to be made doing it. As a former diesel technician of 12 years i can vouch that there is a lot of sucess and satasfaction to be had from getting an education from a job working with your hands. And you can make $ while you do it. I am absolutely NOT saying "dont go to college", simply saying think it through. Talk to people who've done it, talk to people who haven't, research it. Dont go simply because society says you wont amount to anything without it!

What we need is the government to stop subsidizing college tuition. That is what is causing colleges to jack up the prices on everything.

I'll gladly pay more taxes for those things to be free, why wouldn't I? I'm not greedy, plus if the people in office didn't get payed so giddamn much, the taxes would probably stay about the same
