Or he is dead and this is a sick post mortum photo...or photoshopped?
Or of course, a serious bad ass who should be respected for giving it all for his country.
Yeh it happens but I think what ironman is trying to say is that if this was a genuine photo he would not be sat there as calm and collected as he looks...
While there is a chance that this is photo shopped, I have spoken to many people who were weirdly calm despite what ever brought them into the ER. Once guy was laughing about how dumb he was, while 90% of his leg had been taken off with a chain saw. I spoke with one man who acted perfectly normal, except that he had been stabbed multiple times by an angry driver, and had the knife sticking out of his left arm. I had a woman come in who had fallen off the roof. She had 2 kids with her and acted completely normal, except that she had a compound fracture (bone sticking out of skin) of her ulna and radius. She had gotten both her kids together, and drove all 3 of them to the ER, and was still only concerned with not upsetting her kids. Different people handle pain very differently. Add to that shock and adrenaline, and he might not even be in pain, yet. I just hope this guy got medical attention soon after this picture was taken.
@Quirkey For God's sake I KNOW how often soldiers are gravely injured, it's not ignorance and your smugness is uncalled for. What I'm saying is that, even though adrenaline & shock could've very well made him feel nothing at the time, do you really think his allies just sat him down on a lawn chair, gave him a cigarette and took a picture after his fucking legs were just blown off?
I'm not calling out the sentiment, I'm calling out the credibility of this photo. You don't need to be a genius to figure that out.
Just today a guy tells me he cant move his foot I ask why and he shows me the hole in his leg and says because my bone moves when I do and im afraid it could come out (I could see his tibia move ) like mentioned might be fake. But when wounds are so bad nerves are destroyed and they might not feel pain anymore
It is from outofregs.com, "your source for military humor". It's fake. It is also kind of obviously fake. I'm not saying that soldiers losing limbs is not a real problem, but there's a watermark.
P.S. God bless America, and God bless our military veterans.
I don't know if I believe this picture is real, I do know this happens everyday but he probably would've bled out or passed out from the pain. But I do know that this happens everyday, and I don't doubt that soldiers are absolute badasses.
If one of his other soldiers was near when this happened (the most likely occurrence) they could have perform immediate Combat Life Saving techniques, such as putting a tourniquet on his legs and wrapping his stumps, that would have saved his life for sure.
Honestly he looks like he's in shock. Almost as if he isn't even there. That could give the calm appearance he is showing, but inside his body is freaking out.
Reminds me of a vietnam war story of a Vietnamese fighter whose guts were hanging out so he stuck a plate against the wound and wrapped a bandage around it, so he could keep fighting.
Not being rude or but just because one person has a worse day doesn't mean your bad days mean nothing that's like saying I'm happy but another person is happier so I'm don't get to feel happy for myself
This is either a very poor practice and entire neglect to administer medical attention, OR it's photoshopped. :/ I would REALLY hope that this is NOT some postmortem stunt, as mentioned previously. :(
Telling someone their day isn't bad because others have it worse is like saying they can't be happy because others have it better. (No disrespect to this photo)
i saw this and just started crying. Yeah i had a bad day, but now i feel bad for having a bad day which makes my day even worse. And now I'm incredibly sad and feel incredibly selfish and now i just want to apologize to this man for even having a bad day in the first place.
Or of course, a serious bad ass who should be respected for giving it all for his country.
ah...you're probably right
