Remember what you said next time you break a bone and get an x-ray, remember that without her sacrifice setting a bone would be a hit and miss affair that would likely require getting it rebroken when it doesn't heal right because to wasn't set right! Heck, it wasn't as if there was anyone to tell her that ionizing radiation will kill you. Everybody was putting radioactive stuff in water, chocolate, lipstick, and much more. It's sort of amazing that she lived as long as she did.
I would argue that most of those were actually a little bit more, not less, but you have a point. The Nobel Prizes haven't been impressive for quite some time.
