Here's my question: Why would you have sex with someone if you are sober and you know they are drunk (therefore they are not themselves)? If that's the only way you can get sex from someone, you need to rethink that choice.
Tbh my thing on that is like, I see a lot of people ( mainly tumblr SJW types ) and they say if a woman and man both have sex while drunk it's that man's fault because he's " supposed to know right from wrong " even when intoxicated.
But under that same logic, wouldn't that mean that they're calling women weak ? Saying they can't handle their alcohol as well ? Saying they don't have the tolerance to make choices while drunk like they say a man can do ?
I've never been blackout drunk even once and only a few times to the point where I shouldn't be driving or had hard time walking straight but even in those times I didnt do something that would be so out of character like I maybe was goofy and didn't have the best decision making but I was still of sound mind if any of that makes sense so I guess I can't relate to people using that as an excuse
And I should say I'm a dude but I've never woken up with somebody and not remembered who they were, like unless you were drugged then it's on you in my opinion you can't pin your recklessness and lack of limits on anybody else
Legally I would believe it but my argument is more morally.. Like you are going to ruin somebody's life because you woke up and realized you made a mistake.. Then you shouldn't drink
Most people who have not been sexually assaulted or raped do not claim that they have. Yes there are a few who do. But most dont. Just as a man would have his ego hurt if he had been raped and the whole world knew about it, it is the same for women. Most cases of rape by either sex is not reported. Posts like this are the apart of the reason why. Stop.
Actually, posting stuff like this can lead to a discussion that can open peoples minds and change them. But then again, you're a guest and you can say pretty much whatever you want. Just like how you post about 3 comments, seemingly from different guests when all you can do is hit reply to have your own comment chain ?
I just thought of things to say after I posted comments. Just got off work. I'm tired. Only two tho. About it being unconsentual for both. Sorry about that tho.
All this other stuff though is mostly political stance and those dont change easily. Mostly just back and forth. Uncivil exchange of ideas. Etc. Never really pretty.
"I'm a woman/minority/insert qualifier that I think somehow makes my point more valid here" does not magically make you able to speak for all members of a group. Nobody cares what junk you have, people need to stop starting comments with that. That being said, the post makes a valid point on the ability of an inebriated person to consent, BUT is worded very similarly to the "what do you think of THAT, feminists?" posts, and I can see how it might turn some off to reasonable discussion.
Guest, I think if someone is talking about a certain group then someone of that group has more say than someone who isn't of that group. Underyourbed was simply replying to how the first guest was saying the post was whining about hating women, when she , a female, didn't get that feeling from the post. And she also did say how the post made a good point.
Pretty much what this guest said. and I don't see anything that gives the vibe of " what do you think of, THAT feminists ? "
It seems more of a general to society thing seeing as how feminists aren't the only ones saying that guys can't be raped/are the only ones who do/etc. It's saying that there's a double standard in society and people need better logic. Not just feminists.
If someone is drunk, they cannot consent to sex. Consent is defined as a clear and freely-given "yes". If someone is drunk to the point where they are no longer able to care for themselves, their "yes" cannot be freely-given, because they are inhibited by alcohol.
It's cheating because it's a sober thought but a drunk action...somewhere in that persons mind they have thought about getting with another person while they were sober otherwise they wouldn't have done it....if you honestly tell your spouse that it "wasnt your fault" bc you were "drunk", you don't have the right mind(maybe even moral) set to be in a relationship
That's sort of what the post was saying. Personally, I agree with you in that sense. If a person gets really drunk and cheats, it maybe was going to happen at some point whether or not they were drunk because it might have already been a thought in their mind to cheat. BUT. The point of the post is saying that if this part of the argument is true, "you get drunk and cheat, you should be held accountable" (because your sober mind has more self control but it's still in your thoughts) then also the other end should be true "if you get drunk and have sex, you should be held accountable" (because your sober mind has more self control but it's still in your thoughts).
So following your logic I would say also that if "you honestly tell (anyone) that it 'wasn't your fault' bc you were 'drunk', you don't have the right to (get drunk and have sex)." Of course if one person is drunk and one is not, then it's wrong to take advantage of the situation and have the sex. But if both parties are drunk, then I absolutely believe that responsibility for the actions must fall equally on both sides.
I think I figured it out.
To live a life of peace, you need celibacy, tetotal, and to live the life of a hermit... preferably as far away from civilization as possible.
Otherwise, you will be "attacked" and your mere presence will be an "attack."
I think monks were on to something there.

I'd do it, if I could afford to. I think when I retire I'm going to vanish.

Nothing in this post talks about hating women... It's just talking about how society is a complete asshole...
Rape is NOT a GENDER issue. It is a HUMAN RIGHTS issue.
