Why would you ever bother to look at class notes? Just read the textbook and find clarification on the Internet if necessary.

All lot of textbooks I've encountered (not college books) seem to be pretty crappy and not very helpful. I wish someone would make an actual textbook that taught u everything but didn't use over the top terminology all the time when not necessary so it's not like trying to decipher hieroglyphics

There are a lot of college textbooks that are pretty crappy too. I have seen mistakes in problems, the answers, text that referred presumably to figures in older editions, outdated information that was left out of revisions, etc. It is difficult to write a textbook in a subject like mathematics or science that is informative but not overbearing because people have different aptitudes and experiences with the subject. What is difficult to decipher for one person may be too simplistic for another. The same applies to the professor; they have students with a range of ability in the subject, but only have time to give one lecture and address a few questions. They provide material for students to go over in their own time so they can do it at their own pace.

True. Im just say they don't need to use a dictionary for every other word in a math textbook if its not content-specific vocabulary for no reason. It's not a literature book...

Are class notes not simply regurgitations of the textbook?

Not necessarily. The material the professor supplies is based off what they expect you to know; the textbook or other sources of information may contain either more or less detail than what is expected of the students. Often the professor provides clarifications or different approaches to explanations to hopefully cast a wider net in assisting students to learn the subject matter.

Maybe you should try to speak up if you don't understand.
